Project Management

As a project manager and lead, I have been fortunate to work with many talented people to create some fantastic projects. Here are a few samples of the works I was fortunate enough to oversee and be a part of.

I am currently working as Project Manager at a major translation services agency where I am coordinating the translation of vital election materials into 12 different languages for California’s largest county. This project has been both professionally and personally fulfilling, using my technical skills, attention to detail and desire to serve in a very gratifying way.

Clark County Historical Museum

Like dusting off old photos and artifacts, our redesign of the Clark County Historical Museum’s website put a little polish on this treasured local resource. As the team lead for the new site’s video production work, I worked collaboratively with our other teams to bring all the elements together into one interactive site, using state-of-the-art digital technology to highlight and honor the rich history of our region.

I started as part of the ground crew at CableCom and quickly advanced to a crew lead.  The opportunity to work my way up through multiple positions gave me useful insight into the challenges of the various roles.

A portion of my day involved working directly with clients, supervisors and/or other crew leads planning out and prioritizing project objectives, as well as setting daily, weekly and long-term deadlines.  I worked side-by-side with my crew climbing utility poles, flagging and setting up equipment – whatever was needed for the successful completion of the task at hand to meet and exceed goals.  After my crew left for the day, I could be found preparing reports, writing crew evaluations and making supply checklists for the next day.

My time at CableCom was a rewarding mix of constant learning, working with other results-driven people and planning to make sure everyone working on the project was set up to be successful every day.

As a Petty Officer in the United States Coast Guard, I had the opportunity to organize and execute many special projects.  Some of the projects included extended maritime law enforcement deployments, where planning details such as fuel, equipment, food, lodging, and other logistics could be challenging to organize due to the isolated nature of the region.

Additional roles included managing major maintenance and overhauls on search and rescue assets, procuring replacement machinery and new equipment, and ensuring operational readiness of these resources.  This work was done outside of my other main duty as a first responder to emergent situations.

My work in the U.S. Coast Guard was busy, exciting and rewarding, as I was always juggling many projects while planning for future needs and possible scenarios.
